A Blanket In The Cold (2026 Reissue)

One of my all time favorite must haves that I keep with me during these cold (and occasionally snowy and windy) winter months is a trusty warm blanket.

I have a whole linen closet full & feel you can never have enough.

You can also never have enough Jesus.

In the bitter coldness of this world, He is a blanket like source of warmth and comfort. A place of rest when our souls become weary; the armor that serves as a shield during those particularly windy storms of life. A source of guidance and truth through it all.

"Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him". (Proverbs 30:5)

I would never be able to sleep comfortably at night without at least one blanket at night, sometimes two on those REALLY cold nights.

Who are you relying on to pull you through those long dark nights? Where is your source of comfort and warmth to be found? Who do you turn to for guidance?

"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might."

"Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."

" For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

"Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." (Ephesians 6:10-13)

The greatest source of comfort and warmth you will ever find is through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Please don't spend another night without placing your faith in Him for salvation. This world is too dark and cold for you to try and walk alone. Jesus is waiting for you with arms wide open.

"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."(Romans 10:13)

Are Your Glasses Broken?

Writing for the Lord fills my heart with SO much joy---although I will admit that I sometimes try to be too technical & that can totally ruin my creative process.

I live for the moments that can be used for His glory.

And tonight, I have a little story and a thought that the Lord placed on my heart to share.

Now, I know this is the question that everyone has on their minds as they're seeing this random photograph of a pair of broken glasses.

Why would I choose to share that?

These aren't my glasses....but I did manage to break my own last night.

Those glasses have sat on my head for a total of six years (I am way past due for an eye examination.) but I will honestly admit that I had been careless with them long before this ever happened. I lived with the worst habit of leaving them lying around in random places, never remembering where they were on any given day.

Until finally, I sat on them and *snap*

It was a clean break. (Complete separation right at the bridge.)

They are currently held together with the temporarily wonderful magic of super glue. I have peace about the situation, because I know that after this winter storm moves on through, I can simply call an eye doctor & be well on my way to acquiring a much-needed new pair of glasses.

The Lord brought this thought to my mind as I kept thinking about it:

Millions of souls around the world remain lost and without Christ, their hearts heavily steeped in sin. They live out their days carelessly, never giving a thought to the spiritual condition of their heart or to the fact that one day that sin will lead to a "clean break" from God, in other words, a complete separation from Him for all eternity.

They have near-sighted vision, and are only able to see what's right in front of them while everything else, including the long-term consequences of that sin remains blurry.

A lot of folks find themselves continually searching for temporary remedies that will never truly heal a soul that's lost and broken.

Are your glasses broken?

Not only am I thankful for the "superglue" fixes of life, but I am also grateful that I can call upon Jesus for anything and everything.

Even on those days where I truly mess up. Those moments where I know I knew better. It takes courage to admit that I don't do everything right.

But could you say the same?

Maybe you've lived a certain life for many years & have never given a thought to any of what I've written here...but know that there's no greater physician for the soul than Jesus.

No one will ever be able to mend your broken heart the same way He can.

No one will ever be able to rescue you from your own sin like He can.

Simply because no one loves you like He does.

Are your glasses broken tonight?

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23 KJV)

"And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." (Luke 5:31-32 KJV)

A Time To Reset (New Years Series Part 1)

I have kept this thought on my heart for a while now (honestly even before Christmas celebrations ever began) & I have pondered over where to even start with it but I do sometimes make writing for the Lord too technical. The best of what He has given me has only ever come from the heart. ❤️

Have you ever dealt with a laptop that just won't cooperate?

I cannot begin to tell you how many seasons of laptops that I have lived through in the four years of college and 10+ years of writing.

They all eventually meet the exact same fate:

Pages won't load as efficiently. The battery won't keep its charge. The smallest task becomes its greatest challenge.

However, the most agonizing death for a computer is having a virus absolutely consume the entire operating system, effectively rendering the device completely unusable.

At that point it becomes necessary to attempt a factory reset. It essentially wipes your operating system completely clean & provides it with a much-needed fresh start.

Are you someone in need of a new beginning?

You've been holding onto that broken sin-filled life for so long now that no other way of living seems possible.

The presence of sin only functions as a virus in your life that will gradually grow to be out of control if you choose to never install any sort of protection.

No one ever thinks that whatever sin they are dealing with will travel that far with them. That it's no big deal.

It IS a big deal.

Deciding where you'll spend eternity is a HUGE deal. It's the most important decision you will ever make.

Jesus loves you. Won't you call upon His name & allow Him to give you that new beginning that your heart & soul so desperately need?

"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13)

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." (Romans 10:9-10)

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23)
