Training Them Up (A Thought From Proverbs)

There's SO much joy to be found in allowing the Lord to use those little life stories of ours all for His glory.

Writing out devotionals and short stories will forever be my favorite...but I love sharing the few fun parts of my childhood.

And it's on my heart to talk about my beloved trampoline.

I spent six summers on it & loved every minute of it. I bounced from daylight until dark. I think I must have only stopped for food or bathroom breaks. It was so much fun.

I truly believe that level of exercise is what kept me from growing up into a wheelchair. What was built into my leg muscles was a foundation of strength that has carried me through every season of life that my heart will forever be thankful for.

My body still struggles with cerebral palsy, of course, but I am thankful that my legs are as strong as they are. I can still comfortably walk over a mile on my treadmill on days when I'm in the mood to really push myself. My legs may be wobbly on those other days that aren't so good, but they continue to hold me up and that's a blessing.

This thought came into my mind on a whim because children have been on my heart for a while now. The country (heck the whole world) is stuck in such disarray & all that's happening seems to be specifically targeting young impressionable minds.

It is SO important to tell your kids about Jesus. It is even more important to have them learning & committing His precious Word to memory.

The most valuable gift you can give them is that foundation of faith and wisdom that will give them the strength that will carry them all throughout their lives.

While some days may be much easier than others, learning to rely on His strength will hold them up on those wobbly days that are yet to come.

"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." (Proverbs 22:6 KJV)
