Four Years of Molly's Zone! (A Thank You Note)

The sole post of August and a celebratory one for sure. I cannot believe four years are soon to pass since the launch of Molly's Zone. I am still overwhelmed by the blessing that is this blog; a place to share my stories and my truths with the world. I have not posted as much as I used to and that is because I don't always have words to share. Life is busy and I am forever battling the cerebral palsy fatigue; it has gotten harder to manage as time as gone by, but I am still riding along the trail of life. Writing has always brought to me immense joy. A therapy of sorts, as I have gone through a lot of tribulation in life and sometimes, I just need to write about it. I am so grateful for those who have followed my blog for the past four years. September 1st is the actual fourth birthday. I am thankful that He chose me and called me to be a writer; doing this was always something I ran away from for many years and I regret not listening to Him sooner. In the past four year...

For My Momma

For my Momma, A semi late birthday message for you Our bond is a cherished one between us two I hope you had a wonderful birthday Even though I made a cobbler that we thought of throwing away Times of laughter, times of happiness You fill my heart with so much gladness No one knows our story as well as we do I am forever glad it has always been just me and you My heart is filled with adoration For our time spent together since my creation Our relationship is stronger than any age old mushy letter Our bond is deep inside the heart, which makes it that much better I hope you enjoy this poem You always say "you never write poems that rhyme." I hope you know how much I love you Beyond the end of time

I Am Human

I am not quite sure how to begin this post. I have never featured content concerning my father or his family before as a writer; to say this past weekend was a huge deal is an understatement. My father and I do not have a close relationship. In all reality, our lifelong connection has largely been nonexistent. My father has been what I call a 'revolving door' parent all of my life and caused a great deal of pain in my childhood and residual effects from an ex stepfather have lasted well into my adult years. I had a wonderful visit with him and my half sisters on Sunday afternoon: Kathy, Stephanie, and Amanda. My half brother Whit (my father's son) is currently in jail due to drug use and I reconnected with him via telephone. We ate, we talked, and we all took pictures. I even got to meet and hold my newest nephew Jude. I love my father but my heart just has a hard time overlooking the time that was lost and the painful memories of my past. I wouldn't call it unforg...

The Stepping Stones of Growth

Life has an interesting way of leading us down paths that we might never have expected to visit. The journey of experience is often adventurous and full of priceless teachable moments. The ups and downs of living often carry heavy weights within our souls; times of abundant blessings are wonderful, while the not so happy times aren't as joyful. Why do we go through these waves of time? Why can't it just be good all the time? Another possible question is this: why do we experience some things in the way that we do? Why do we meet some people in certain ways or in certain times of our walk with Christ? Maybe you've not had much luck with life lately. Everything is a mess and it just seems like God isn't listening. I love Christ, but I don't understand why I am in this stage of my life. I had the best intentions and my life has just fallen apart. I don't know how I got to where I am at. Christ and I lost touch it seems and I just have no idea how He is goin...

Words We Forget to Pray (Food For Thought)

I don't have a specific blog topic for this week. I have been walking through a season of acknowledging the fact that I struggle to be as close to God as He desires. As we all are, I'm sure there are times in which we forget to be thankful and truly appreciative for what we do have. I tend to walk in a spirit of negativity and sorrow; I have a habit of basing all of my relationships on needing to feel whole through the presence of fellowship instead of counting on faith solely to fulfill me. I'm not sure exactly which part of my life it stems from. I am tackling those issues through prayer and a deep soul search. My encouragement for you today is short, but heavy in importance. If you do not have the kind of relationship that you desire with Christ, or if you feel like every friendship you dive into is a one way street, if you feel like maybe you are tad bit toxic to those around you because of unresolved issues in your life, then I encourage you to pray the words we som...

Forgiveness & Growth in The Wilderness (Wilderness Series Part 3)

The final installment in my wilderness series is an opportunity to shine the light through darkness; a light that I hope encourages someone who may come upon this post. In my own season of wilderness, the Lord's forgiveness and potential for spiritual growth are things that I am clinging to. Let me just write that none of us will ever arrive without Jesus. We may think we have it all under control, but we remain under a constant threat of deception. I have had many a stumble and have come upon this realization time and time again; yet, I have continuously struggled in my stubborn flesh. We all struggle and I felt like this week it would be an encouragement to let all know that Christ loves you & wants you to confront those shortcomings head on. Do not let it devour you; that statement can be a hard one to live up to. It is also wise to remember that as believers, we are all immersed in the process of sanctification. At 27, I'm not the same individual as I was five years...

The Fight Against Deception (Wilderness Series Part 2)

We all find ourselves surrounded by the wilderness throughout certain moments of our walk through life; as born again believers, we sometimes encounter the learning of lessons through said wilderness. We begin to be strengthened in our walk as a result. Regardless of whether we plop ourselves into the shades of the forest or life just throws a spear into our field of vision, we must always remember to consider Christ. The largest web the wilderness weaves is the spirit of deception. A spirit that becomes proud. We begin to question our need for God. We soak ourselves in self righteousness. We pursue the flesh and its many desires, instead of pursuing His word and wisdom. The minute that we take a bite from the fruit of deception, the seed is fiercely wedged into our soul, and the only plant that grows is one of destruction. Life can become difficult in the blink of an eye. Your health may fail in one way or another. Unforeseen circumstances might be throwing you for a loop. Whatever...
