Is Your Name In The Book of Life?

Some of you may remember a message that I wrote in February that was aptly titled "The Price of Sin Will Never Be Worth It".   (The link to that post can be found here). The heart behind this particular two-part series comes from a sense of wanting to be timely and truthful; as the world we live in today continues to crumble, thoughts and conversations about eternity need to be at the forefront. There are no words to describe the societal damage that stems from "influencer culture" (what is the definition of such a thing?) and let me tell you, it BAFFLES me to see so many do the craziest things to gain views or followers. (I've mentioned this previously, but it still blows me away.) It's time for an uncomfortable truth: Becoming the next big viral sensation may get your name mentioned in all of the magazines. You may even find yourself appearing on a daytime talk show.  While all of those things can be fun and exciting, having your name written eve...

A Thought For Your Monday

I love reading blogs. I always take away something from them. Last week, I stumbled upon a post that really made think. It was about what the definition of a good and true friend really is. There's a big difference between making time for a friend versus having the time for them. Do you truly make the time for those you care about? Making time for someone is so special. It shows how much you care for them and it will always mean more than you know. Life is crazy busy at times, and it's not always possible to have a full fledged conversation with someone and when you're older, responsibilities come first. But it takes less than ten seconds to send a message to let someone know you're thinking of them. It doesn't even need to be a grand gesture. Maybe a funny GIF or a "hey there" kind of reminder. Or... Maybe you've been at your day job and you've continuously witnessed  a close co-worker who's struggling just to make it through t...

The Power of His Presence

Nothing shall be impossible with God, yet nothing will ever be possible without Him.  This thought popped into my head the other night, and I couldn't help but think of how true that statement actually is.  I think this message applies to so many as it is really hard to ask for help when you need it.  There always seems to be a tug of war in the mind about what to do when faced with certain situations.  You know in your heart what's best but choosing to do everything in your own power so often comes first. The idea of having limitations in this life is never easily accepted.  Those unchangeable circumstances are without a doubt some of the most frustrating.  But the truth is that your capabilities can and will only take you so far.  Every bit of strength that you need in this life will always be found in the power of His presence. Self sufficiency is the common goal of adulthood, but it is never the answer.  Because there will always be those situ...

Get Up and Go

Have you ever needed to complete a task but couldn't find the motivation to do it? I have easily lost whole afternoons by either choosing to look down at the ever-evolving craziness of my newsfeed or by simply  sitting and watching what's going on outside my dining room window while drifting deeper into thought.  It's not unusual to become unmotivated  during times of difficulty or uncertainty. It's natural for our hearts to lose strength  when the going gets tough. It may even seem easier to try and hide away from it all. In writing this today, my greatest reason for sliding in this thought on apathy is to  encourage others to continue pressing forward for the cause of Christ. Because there are countless souls that  still need Him. Those that are lost and in search of something more than life on Earth could ever offer them. You may very well be the only chance that someone has to learn about Jesus and the power of His saving grace. Whenever ...

The Heart of Easter (Reissue)-Easter 2023

What comes to mind when you think of Easter?  The world has painted a longstanding commercialized picture of what this holiday truly represents; so many lose sight of its significance in the presence of chocolate bunnies and colorful Easter eggs. The world has become a raging cesspool of darkness that becomes deeper and more evident with each passing moment. But I am thankful for Easter, and feel blessed to celebrate Jesus on His resurrection day.  That's what Easter is all about. I can't imagine what must have been going through His mind as He was enduring crucifixion on the cross. The pain that He must have felt. The great love He had for all of humanity. The priority that He made us to be in His heart as He was dying.   Those are precious thoughts for our hearts to meditate on as we celebrate on this Sunday.  Jesus died for you and me on that cross, taking the payment for all of our sins so that we may have eternal life with Him one day in Heaven. He bestowed...

Cleaning Out The Junk

For the past several weeks, I have been writing on the subject of seeds; springtime is upon us and it's always exciting to plant them and await the appearance of those tiny first buds.  Another slightly less popular aspect of the season is the long avoided task of cleaning out the accumulated junk that somehow finds its way into every closet, drawer, and cabinet.  The past few days have been spent cleaning and organizing. It's amazing what I have found by searching through the mess.  I can't help but think about how we all hold onto so much junk in our lives. It's so much easier to just push it back into someplace where we can't see it. Out of sight, out of mind...right?  If we were all honest, no one wants to deal with junk because it all seems too overwhelming. It piles up quickly. It's usually more of a mess than we can handle.  What junk are you holding onto?  Do you have bitterness, anger, unforgiveness, or some burdening sorrow in ...

The Seed of Contentment

God doesn't always give you exactly what you want, but He will never fail in giving you what you need.  That simple thought has swirled in my head a lot throughout the past week. Let us delve into the topic of contentment. Our most perfect plans never usually work out as well as we want them to. Even as the Lord walks by our side, it is all too easy for us to become unsatisfied with what He has given us.  It only takes a second to have a seed of dissatisfaction planted in our hearts just by the simple act of looking at others and thinking about what we don't have. It's a must to remember that God always has a perfect plan in place. Every aspect is a connecting dot and has plenty of purpose: the family you were placed in, the friends and acquaintances you encounter, the situations you face.  It's never easy to find God's goodness in the midst of our dissatisfaction. It takes a while to accept that we aren't in control of everything. It's all too common for s...
